An impressive antique Russian Orthodox icon depicting Christ Pantocrator, one of the most important and recognizable images in Orthodox Christianity. Christ is represented frontally, raising His right hand in blessing while holding the Holy Gospel in His left, symbolizing His divine authority, wisdom, and role as the ruler and judge of the world. The hand-painted icon is covered by an ornate embossed metal riza, leaving the face and hands of Christ visible, and is distinguished by a striking radiating halo and finely worked decorative details. The icon is beautifully presented within a large shaped wooden kiot, enriched with a luminous gilded interior, floral and grapevine ornamentation, and delicate applied flowers, creating the appearance of a traditional private devotional shrine. Dating to the late 19th / early 20th century, the complete ensemble retains a strong historical character and an attractive centuries-old patina. The aged wooden construction, darkened metalwork, original-style devotional decoration, and impressive presentation reflect the character of Russian domestic religious art from the late Imperial period. Condition: Overall good antique condition with age-related wear, craquelure, surface abrasions, oxidation and patination to the metal riza, losses and wear to the gilded interior, and deterioration to some decorative floral elements. The wooden kiot shows natural signs of age and historical use, retaining its authentic character and impressive presentation.
