A remarkable and richly symbolic multi-scene icon presenting four sacred compositions within a single panel. The upper and lower registers depict revered types of the Mother of God with Christ Child, each reflecting different theological expressions of protection, tenderness, and intercession. Alongside them stands a full-length representation of Saint Nicholas, the great wonderworker and protector of the faithful. Such composite icons were deeply valued in domestic devotion, offering multiple layers of spiritual presence within one object. The inclusion of several Marian types suggests a strong emphasis on the protective and guiding role of the Mother of God, while Saint Nicholas reinforces themes of blessing, miracles, and safeguarding of the household. The surface shows a beautiful passage of time with softened details, natural craquelure, and areas of wear across the gilded background. There are minor traces of historic retouching in small areas, consistent with preservation efforts over time, while the icon retains its original character and devotional integrity. The wooden panel at the reverse, with visible age, wormholes, and original structure, further supports a 19th-century dating. Condition is consistent with age and devotional handling, with visible wear and patina throughout, enhancing its authentic antique presence.
