A highly symbolic and richly composed icon of the Mother of God “Burning Bush”, one of the most revered and protective images in Orthodox tradition. At the center, the Virgin and Child are enclosed within a radiant star-shaped mandorla, surrounded by angels and sacred scenes reflecting divine mystery, protection, and the Incarnation. This icon type was especially venerated as a protector against fire and misfortune, making it a meaningful presence in homes and places of prayer. The balanced composition, vibrant colors, and detailed symbolic elements reflect the craftsmanship of a Russian provincial workshop of the late 19th century, where devotional depth was combined with decorative harmony. Executed in Egg tempera and natural pigments on a gessoed wooden panel with gilded background The surface shows honest age with minor wear and light craquelure. There is no clear evidence of heavy repainting, and the icon retains its original character and integrity, with only possible minor old touch-ups.
