This example reflects the traditional Russian iconographic style, with the Virgin's gentle inclined head and Christ raising His hand in blessing. The warm ochre background, deep red maphorion adorned with stars, and finely drawn facial features embody the spiritual softness and prayerful intimacy characteristic of 19th-century Russian workshops. The Kazan icon is one of the most venerated images in Orthodoxy, historically associated with protection, guidance, and family blessings. It has long been placed in homes as a guardian of faith and unity. Hand-painted in tempera on wood panel with recessed back (kovcheg style), showing natural age wear and devotional patina consistent with its period. A meaningful piece that has now found its new home with a dedicated collector. “𝔒𝔩𝔡 𝔴𝔬𝔬𝔡 𝔠𝔞𝔯𝔯𝔦𝔢𝔰 𝔥𝔬𝔩𝔶 𝔰𝔱𝔬𝔯𝔦𝔢𝔰”
