This beautiful Russian Orthodox icon depicts the revered Mother of God of Kazan with the Christ Child, protected by an ornate metal riza (oklad) that highlights the sacred faces and hands. The icon is framed by a rich decorative field with finely painted surrounding saints, creating a devotional composition typical of Russian iconography of the 19th century. At the top, Christ appears in blessing, while the surrounding saints stand as spiritual witnesses around the central image of the Mother and Child.
