An exceptional and richly detailed Russian Orthodox icon depicting a composite cycle of major Orthodox feasts centered on the Mother of God. This remarkable composition brings together key events from the lives of Christ and the Virgin Mary, including the Nativity of the Mother of God, Presentation in the Temple, Annunciation, Nativity of Christ, Baptism of Christ, Entry into Jerusalem, Dormition of the Mother of God, the Holy Trinity, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, and other revered liturgical and Marian scenes. Hand-painted in egg tempera on a wooden panel, the icon preserves its original Church Slavonic inscriptions, beautiful aged patina, and authentic devotional character. Large multi-scene compositions of this quality required considerable artistic skill and remain highly appreciated by collectors of Russian Orthodox iconography. Condition: Original antique condition with age-related wear, scattered paint losses, surface abrasions, and naturally darkened varnish.
