A beautifully composed multi-scene icon representing the Twelve Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church, surrounding the central image of the Resurrection (Descent into Hades). This traditional liturgical composition reflects the full cycle of Christ’s life and the major feasts of the Church year, painted in rich tempera on wood with gilded background. The central Resurrection scene shows Christ in mandorla, descending into Hades and raising Adam and Eve — a powerful theological symbol of victory over death. Surrounding panels include key feasts such as the Nativity, Presentation, Baptism, Transfiguration, Entry into Jerusalem, Crucifixion, Ascension, and others, rendered in classic late Imperial Russian style. The icon displays characteristic 19th-century workmanship: fine linear detailing, traditional color palette of deep greens, reds, and ochres, and aged gilded ground with natural patina. The wood panel shows age-consistent wear and wormholes on the reverse, confirming period authenticity.
