A beautiful and devotional Russian icon depicting three standing saints beneath the blessing figure of Christ emerging from the heavens. The composition includes St.Nicholas the Wonderworker on the left, St. Gregory the Theologian in the center, and the Holy Martyr St. Alexandra on the right, shown crowned and robed in deep ceremonial garments. Such family and patron saint icons were deeply personal works, created to protect and spiritually accompany the household for generations. Executed in egg tempera on a gesso-prepared wooden panel with a luminous gold background, the icon reflects the disciplined character of late 19th century Russian iconography. The figures are elongated and balanced, with refined linework, preserved inscriptions, and naturally aged gilding that has developed a warm historic tone over time. The reverse retains its original wooden structure with old back slats and authentic signs of age. The icon remains in honest antique condition with natural craquelure, abrasions, and age-related wear consistent with genuine devotional use. No major modern overpainting or heavy restoration is immediately visible, preserving the authentic historical surface collectors seek.
